Thomas Wesley Pentz, professionally known as Diplo, is an American DJ, songwriter and producer. He is a close friend of Poppy's and founded the Mad Decent record label, which Poppy was signed to from 2017 to 2019.

Early Life

Diplo was born in Tupelo, Mississippi. He later moved to Miami, Florida where he got his interest in Miami bass. He attended the University of Central Florida, then later moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to continue his studies at Temple University. Later in his life, he switched from being a DJ to a producer and founded Mad Decent, signing people such as Shakira, Bruno Mars, Snoop Dogg, Justin Bieber, Azealia Banks, Poppy, Iggy Azalea and Ariana Grande.

Relationship with Poppy

Diplo and Poppy met around the time Poppy signed with Mad Decent. He would later co-produce her song "Time Is Up", on which he is also credited as a featured artist, and co-write her song "The Rapture Ball", both from her second album Am I a Girl?.
