"All the Things She Said" is a song originally by t.A.T.u. that Poppy has covered. It was released as a single on June 3rd, 2020 alongside a music video. The music video currently has over 5 million views on YouTube.

Background[]

Poppy had first covered "All the Things She Said" live during the I Disagree Tour in early 2020. On May 21st, 2020, Poppy released a teaser for the music video on social media, implying that a studio version would be released. It was released on June 3rd, 2020 without a date announcement, likely as a surprise for fans.

Due to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests sparked by the May 2020 murder of George Floyd, Poppy wrote a statement in the music video's description to emphasize the importance of LGBTQ+ rights and the needed attention to the current climate of injustice against racial minorities in America.

"This cover song was delivered to my label over two weeks ago, with the purpose of being released in time for Pride Month. Unfortunately, in the time elapsed since then, we’ve been faced with a tragedy that calls for our much needed attention. While we are still fighting for equality in the lgbtq+ community, we still have a long way to go, and there still remains an absurd amount of injustice for minorities in America. I cannot adequately express my distain for how our government, and above all, our president is reacting to what’s happening in America right now. I encourage you to educate yourself, go out and protest, donate, and raise your voice to speak out against this injustice. I’ll also be sharing a few links to donate to if you have the means to do so. I stand with you in love ❤️ -Moriah" - Poppy in the description of "All the Things She Said"

Theme[]

Poppy confirmed in the music video description that the cover was intended to be released in time for LGBTQ+ Pride Month, likely due to the song's themes about lesbianism.

Music Video[]

The grayscale music video consists of Poppy walking around a padded cell and singing.

Chart Performance[]

The cover charted at number 41 on the Billboard Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart.[1] This marked the first time that a Poppy song had appeared on any Billboard chart.

Lyrics[]

[Intro]
All the things she said, all the things she said
All the things she said, all the things she said
All the things she said, all the things she said
All the things she said

[Chorus]
All the things she said, all the things she said
Runnin' through my head, runnin' through my head
Runnin' through my head
All the things she said, all the things she said
Runnin' through my head, runnin' through my head
All the things she said
This is not enough (Enough, enough, enough, enough, enough)

[Verse 1]
I'm in serious shit, I feel totally lost
If I'm asking for help, it's only because
Being with you has opened my eyes
Could I ever believe such a perfect surprise?
I keep asking myself, wondering how
I keep closing my eyes, but I can't block you out
Wanna fly to a place where it's just you and me
Nobody else, so we can be free (Nobody else, so we can be free)

[Chorus]
All the things she said, all the things she said
Runnin' through my head, runnin' through my head
Runnin' through my head
All the things she said, all the things she said
Runnin' through my head, runnin' through my head
All the things she said
This is not enough (Oh, oh)
This is not enough
All the things she said, all the things she said

[Post-Chorus]
All the things she said, all the things she said
All the things she said, all the things she said
All the things she said

[Verse 2]
And I'm all mixed up, feeling cornered and rushed
They say it's my fault, but I want her so much
Wanna fly her away where the sun and the rain
Come in over my face, wash away all the shame
When they stop and stare, don't worry me
'Cause I'm feeling for her what she's feeling for me
I can try to pretend, I can try to forget
But it's driving me mad, going out of my

[Chorus]
All the things she said, all the things she said
Runnin' through my head, runnin' through my head
Runnin' through my head
All the things she said, all the things she said
Runnin' through my head, runnin' through my head
All the things she said
This is not enough (Oh, oh)
This is not enough
All the things she said, all the things she said

[Post-Chorus]
All the things she said, all the things she said
All the things she said, all the things she said
All the things she said, all the things she said
Things she said
All the things she said, all the things she said

[Bridge]
Mom there lookin' at me
Tell me, what do you see?
Yes, I've lost my mind
Dad there lookin' at me
Will I ever be free?
Have I crossed the line?

[Chorus]
All the things she said, all the things she said
Runnin' through my head, runnin' through my head
Runnin' through my head
All the things she said, all the things she said
Runnin' through my head, runnin' through my head
All the things she said
This is not enough (Oh, oh)
This is not enough

[Outro]
All the things she said, all the things she said
All the things she said, all the things she said
All the things she said, all the things she said
All the things she said
