"I Disagree" is a song by Poppy. It served as the second single and title track from her upcoming third studio album "I Disagree". It was released on October 4th, 2019 alongside a music video.

Background

Poppy first announced the single alongside a teaser for the music video on September 12th, 2019.[1] Poppy posted another teaser on September 20th, 2019, as well as a third and final teaser on October 2nd, 2019.[2][3]

Theme

"I Disagree" is about Poppy breaking free and rebelling from Them. In the verses, Poppy mentions various reasons she disagrees with their decisions, and how They are not treating her positively. In the chorus, she sings about burning Them to the ground, which could be symbolic for escaping their control.

The song could also be about breaking free from a controlling relationship, as Poppy sings about being pressured and failed to be pleasured.

Lyrics

[Intro]
Watashi wa anata ni dōi shimasen
Watashi wa anata ni dōi shimasen
Watashi wa anata ni dōi shimasen

[Verse 1]
I disagree, everything you believe is a tragedy
I disagree with the way you keep preaching insanity
I disagree with all of the reasons you're mad at me
I disagree, everything in your life is a tragedy

[Chorus]
Down, let it all burn down
Burn it to the ground
We'll be safe and sound
When it all burns down
Let it all burn down
Burn it to the ground
We'll be safe and sound
When it all burns down

[Verse 2]
I disagree with the way you continue to pressure me
I disagree with the way you are failing to pleasure me
I disagree, everything is going how it's meant to be
I disagree with the way you continue to pressure me

[Chorus]
Down, let it all burn down
Burn it to the ground
We'll be safe and sound
When it all burns down
Let it all burn down
Burn it to the ground
We'll be safe and sound
When it all burns down

[Bridge]
If only all of you could see the world I see
Then maybe everyone could live in harmony
Watashi wa anata ni dōi shimasen
Watashi wa anata ni dōi shimasen
Watashi wa anata ni dōi shimasen
Watashi wa anata ni dōi shimasen

[Chorus]
Down, let it all burn down
Burn it to the ground
We'll be safe and sound
When it all burns down
Let it all burn down
Burn it to the ground
We'll be safe and sound
When it all burns down
