The song is a love story, in which Poppy explains that although she enjoys receiving presents on Christmas, the main reason she is excited for the holiday is because she has a significant other to spend it with. She sings about her love for this person and how she only wants them for Christmas, similar to the popular Christmas song "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey.
