Island Records is a British-American record label that operates as a division of Universal Music Group (UMG).
Background
In early 2014, Poppy had signed to Island Records and created various songs for a then-upcoming album. In late 2016, Poppy left the label due to several accounts of mistreatment. Her current labels are I'm Poppy Records and Sumerian Records.
In an interview with NME, Poppy claimed that she "went through the circus" with Island, and that she realized she was "in a really bad deal" by working with them.[1] She also claimed that the label "discouraged" her from making YouTube videos.
