Background[]
Poppy signed with Sumerian Records sometime after the release of Choke. She briefly left the label sometime in 2022 prior to the release of Stagger[1], but returned to the label once again in early 2023. In an April 2023 interview with Billboard, Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen commented on Poppy's return, thrilled, he stated;
"The only thing more exciting than signing an iconic artist for the first time is signing them again when they choose to return home, Poppy is a pioneer and lover of music, film, pro-wrestling, the unorthodox and the avant-garde. That is why I believe Sumerian is still the best label in the world for her. We are thrilled to have her back." - Ash Avlidsen in an interview with Billboard.[2]
