Poppy confirmed the song's title in an interview with C89.5 Radio.[1] She later tweeted a line of lyrics from the song on October 1st, 2018.

"'The Rapture Ball" is about Poppy attending her first party, which consists of people of high social status.
As the song's title suggests, it is inspired by the Rapture, a purported end time event when all Christian believers living and dead will rise into Heaven and join Christ.
