Titanic Ulysses Sinclair was a character and persona portrayed by Titanic Sinclair in Poppy's YouTube videos.
Biography and History[]
Titanic Sinclar is a fictional character and persona portrayed by Corey Mixter. The character was created as a part of Mixter's collaborative project with Mars Argo on their YouTube channel grocerybagdottv. Sinclair first appeared on January 29th, 2009, in the Video Blog webseries episode "Our First Video". The limited series would later diverge into the Computer Show webseries. The initial synopsis of Sinclair's character was that in 2012, Sinclair alongside the Mars Argo character were selected by the President of the United States to go back in time to 2009 and "spread peace on earth". In these videos, they would spoof pop culture and mock social commentary.
Following the breakup of Sinclair and Argo, the character would be reused for the Poppy project. In these videos, Sinclair never makes a direct appearance. However, he has indirectly appeared in other forms. His voice can be heard in "Black Magic Trick", his laugh can be heard in "Poppy Eats Cotton Candy" and he provides the distorted voices for Plant and Skeleton. His reflection is visible in the videos "Sunglasses" and "Nose", his legs are shown in the video "What Are Shoes", while his hands appear in the videos "Black Magic Trick", "These Are Cotton Swabs" and "Touch Poppy". Finally, he is mentioned by name in the second "Charlotte Interviews Poppy" and "I Am Not in a Cult".
In sharp contrast to his character in the Computer Show, in Poppy's videos Titanic Sinclair is portrayed as a stoic director and puppetmaster controls Poppy and her every decision. Similar to Poppy, his voice is monotone and devoid of any emotion. Sinclair described the Poppy character as a "very humanlike being who one day approached me and I decided to document her" and hinted at her possibly being an android.[1]. He is likely a leader of a cult of sorts, as hinted at in his video on his own YouTube channel "I AM NOT A CULT LEADER" where he uncomfortably denies being in a cult while wearing the triangular Poppy logo pin. Poppy later uploaded a similar video "I Am Not in a Cult" where she reassures the audience that "[she] is not in a cult" and that "Titanic Sinclair is not a cult leader". It was originally thought that Sinclair was a member of Them, Poppy refuted this in an interview with the Zach Sang Show, stating that "he has to listen to They too". She also confirmed that only she and Sinclair work for Them [2] Indicating that Sinclair may not have been controlling Poppy out of his own free will.
From late 2014 until late 2018, Sinclair would frequently make his own videos in the same style as Poppy's videos. In these videos he stands in front of a monochrome backdrop and speaks about pop culture in a monotone voice. These videos later shifted to him standing in front of a white backdrop and wearing formal attire. Poppy has also appeared in two of Sinclair's own YouTube videos, "I Am Titanic Sinclair" and "The Clock Is Ticking". Charlotte appears in the latter video, as well.
Following the end of Poppy and Titanic Sinclair's romantic and professional relationship, the Titanic Sinclair character will likely never be used again in the future.
Appearance[]
Titanic Sinclair is typically portrayed as a clean-shaven man in his late 20's to early 30's, he prominently wore formal attire like a suit fashioned with a tie and sported long platinum blonde hair similar to Poppy's. In Sinclair's earlier appearances, he would wear more casual attire and had dark-brown hair and briefly black hair. In mid-2018, Sinclair dyed his hair black which he has maintained since.
Abilities[]
Like Poppy, Titanic Sinclair has been shown to possess abnormal and supernatural abilities.
Time travel[]
Sinclair likely has the ability to travel backwards in time, as shown in the Computer Show. Though, this could solely be the work of the President of the United States sending him and Mars Argo back in time.
Cloning[]
Similar to Poppy's "summoning" ability, Sinclair has been shown to be able to clone himself. In "How to Not Get Murdered by Police", two Titanic Sinclair's are shown on screen, one pointing a gun and one with his hands up.
